Halloween pottery painting in Bourne End: leave time for the kiln
Share
A mug covered in little ghosts, a pumpkin-orange bowl or a plate with a spider hiding on the rim: you don’t need an elaborate design to make something for Halloween.
At The Lemon Tree Pottery Painting Café in Bourne End, you can choose a pottery piece and give it your own autumn twist. We’re near Marlow, Cookham and Maidenhead, and families and adults can paint together.

Want to use it on 31 October? Paint ahead
Your painted pottery stays with us for glazing and kiln firing. It is normally ready to collect in around 10 days, so an early-October visit gives you more breathing room than leaving it until Halloween week.
If having your piece back for Halloween matters, call 01628 525609 before booking. We’ll check the firing and collection timing with you. Please don’t assume pottery painted during half-term will be ready by 31 October.
Three ideas that are easy to make your own
- A ghost mug: choose a dark background and leave simple pale ghost shapes, adding two eyes to each. Ask us for advice on the best order to paint your design.
- An autumn bowl: use orange, cream and a few green leaves. Keep the shapes loose rather than trying to copy a perfect pumpkin.
- A spider plate: start with one spider and a web in a corner, then add a name or a short Halloween message.
These are design suggestions for the pottery you choose. Specific Halloween shapes and seasonal pieces depend on stock, so contact us first if there’s a particular item you want.
October half-term painting
Buckinghamshire Council’s published autumn half-term dates are Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026. Individual school calendars can differ, so check yours when choosing a visit. See the council’s term dates.
Half-term is also a good opportunity to start Christmas presents. Children could paint a mug for a grandparent or a family keepsake without needing it back immediately. Baby handprints and footprints can make personal gifts too.
What you pay and what happens next
A daytime session lasts 90 minutes. The £5 studio fee per painter covers table time, paints, glazing and kiln firing. Pottery is purchased separately; drinks and treats are extra.
Choose a session in the calendar and include accompanying non-painters in your booking. For a party or a larger group, contact us to discuss the seating first. Prefer to paint in your own space? Ask about take-home kits, which also need to be returned for firing.
Find us at 27 The Parade, Bourne End, SL8 5SB. See parking and contact information, or book your pottery-painting session.
